Wholesale Market Price Update

May 2013

Wholesale prices of natural gas, electricity and Brent crude oil have all held fairly steady this week. Despite the end of a mini-heat wave and a return to colder than average temperatures, the fall in demand allowed injections into storage to be made, boosting short-term supply confidence. An unplanned outage at Norway’s Troll A gas field and reduced imports through the Langeled pipeline and the South Hook LNG terminal have not resulted in any significant market impacts. With weather forecasts showing an expectation of warmer temperatures from next week, a steady market is likely in the short-term at least.
