Wholesale Market Price Update

March 2013

Following the recent upward movement of the wholesale market prices for electricity, natural gas and Brent crude oil, a slight levelling has been seen since the end of last week. Although some parts of the UK experienced unexpected snowfall over the last few days, and low storage levels have been the cause for some concern, the markets have coped admirably and happily the climb has subsided somewhat. The cold weather is expected to continue into next week, but the return to operation of the Elgin gas/oil platform in the North Sea following a year long outage has restored some longer-term confidence in the markets as we go into spring.
