For a fifth month running, the electricity wholesale prices have remained steady, hovering between the 4p/kWh and 5p/kWh level with no immediate sign of any drastic increases, resulting in some much wanted stability in the market. News that the weather is not likely to be as hot as predicted and that supply is currently plentiful has gone some way to erase any fears that a potential ‘heatwave’ would cause demand to peak as air conditioning countrywide gets put into overdrive. The UK continues to embrace LNG (liquefied natural gas) with imports regularly being delivered to ports around the country. ’Dragon’ in Wales is the largest at present and is able to store 6 billion cubic metres per annum, and with inter-connectors and pipelines running at near full capacity, there should be no fears of a supply shortage in the near future - impacting positively on market prices. |
